This photo was taken outside the River Cafe in Brooklyn, New York. The River Cafe is practically under the Brooklyn Bridge facing lower Manhattan across the East River. There is a beautiful garden of cut flowers just outside the entrance to the restaurant. What’s so great (and ironic) about the flowers is how they contrast with all the hard scape of the city buildings and the bridge. I’ve never had dinner at the River Cafe, but have gone there three times for a $17 appletini–worth every penny! In fact once I took a $50 cab ride to get there just for their appletini. The bartender makes it with fresh squeezed apples and pineapple and you can sit at the bar during sunset looking at the magnificent New York skyline with the eerie absence of the World Trade Center.
